Infrared/Thermo scanning

Thermo Scanning is aimed at detecting “hot spots” in the electrical supply chain. These “hot spots” could be present in various areas such as loose/bad connections on the terminals of equipment and devices such as breakers, UPS, Static Switch etc. Hotspots could also be present inside breakers and switches where the resistance has reached dangerous levels causing the internals of the breaker to heat up. Other factors such as high neutral currents and harmonics all can contribute to an increase in temperature beyond acceptable and even dangerous levels.

The problem is that it is extremely hard to detect these issues. In a running environment you can not touch terminal screws and bolts to check whether they are tight enough. In other cases you would not even be able to see of feel the danger as it could be hidden inside equipment and devices such as breaker. You will only notice it when it is too late….

Thermo scanning is a specialized technique which uses advanced equipment. Trained professionals with Level 1 Certified Thermograph certification will be conducting the audit. Pictures are taken from the target and matching thermo scans will be made. This data will then be analysed according to norms and standards.

A report will be provided which contains pictures in both standard and infra-red format. An analysis of the temperature levels and its potential level of risk will be indicated with recommendations for remedial.
