  Leadership & Driving Industry Progress

Innovation remains central to EPI.  We have introduced many pioneering frameworks and tools that have shaped the industry, including:

  • IT & Data Centre Framework®
  • Data Centre Competence Framework® (DCCF®)
  • Data Centre Training Framework®
  • Data Centre Career Planning Tool (DCPT®)

In addition, EPI has led the development of standards such as:

  • DCOS® (Data Centre Operations Standard)
  • MDCS (Modular Data Centre Standard)
  • CRUR® (Computer Room Utilisation Ratio)

Each of these initiatives is designed to bring structure, clarity, and measurable outcomes to an increasingly complex industry.

  The Data Centre 3Ps

At the heart of EPI’s philosophy is the understanding that a data centre is fundamentally about trust. Users depend on data centres with the assurance that their IT systems and applications will always be available, that their data is secure, and that the data centre will consistently perform as expected. Trust in a data centre is built on three vital foundations, which we refer to as the "Three Ps"

The first "P" refers to the Product, the data centre infrastructure itself. Mission-critical data centres require a robust and resilient physical infrastructure, typically based on standards such as TIA-942 and ISO 22237, to support the businesses that rely on them.

Once the infrastructure is in place, the second "P" Processes, takes centre stage. Well-defined processes are crucial for managing this infrastructure efficiently and ensuring it consistently operates at optimal performance.

The third "P" People, is equally critical. Competent and well-trained staff are essential for executing these processes and upholding high standards of resilience, availability, security, and performance.

The EPI organisation and our suite of services are designed to reinforce these three foundations for our customers.

  Certification Body

EPI is a Certification Body (CB), that adheres to rigorous standards to ensure that our customers receive the highest level of services and technical expertise. We are dedicated to meeting and exceeding their business expectations, thereby providing trust confidence to their clients.

EPI is also the world’s first and largest ANSI/TIA-942 Conformity Assessment Body (CAB).

  Our Services

1. Data Centre Facility Audit and Certification, QuickScan and Gap Analysis

Your data centre may look robust on paper. But how does it truly perform under scrutiny?

Our design and facility services provide an independent, standards-based assessment of your data centre’s design, build, and infrastructure. Aligned with globally recognised standards such as ANSI/TIA-942, ISO/IEC 22237 and EN 50600, we evaluate every critical component, from site selection and electrical architecture to redundancy and resilience.

The outcome is more than a certificate. It is clarity on whether your facility can support business continuity, withstand risks, and perform as intended when it matters most. For organisations, this translates into enhanced stakeholder confidence, reduced operational uncertainty, and a data centre that is built to deliver.

2. Data Centre Operations Audit and Certification, QuickScan and Gap Analysis

Even the most well-designed facility can underperform without disciplined operations.

Our data centre operations services focus on how your data centre is managed on a day-to-day basis. Using the DCOS (Data Centre Operations Standard), we assess your governance, processes, maintenance practices, and team capabilities across all operational disciplines.  We look beyond documentation. We examine execution.

This enables you to identify gaps that are often invisible internally, reduce the risk of human error, and establish a structured, repeatable model for operational excellence.  Because in reality, most incidents are not caused by design flaws, but by operational weaknesses. Addressing these is where resilience is truly built.

3. Data Centre Professionals Training and Certification

Technology evolves. Standards evolve. Expectations evolve.  Your people must evolve with them.

Our training and certification programs are designed to develop real-world competencies across the entire data centre lifecycle, from design and build to operations, governance, and risk management.  Built on globally recognised learning and certification frameworks, aligned with industry standards and the world’s only Data Centre Competence Framework, our programs go beyond theory. They provide professionals with practical knowledge they can apply immediately, and the confidence to make sound decisions in complex environments.

For organisations, this means faster onboarding, stronger team alignment, and a workforce that can contribute meaningfully to the growth of the organisation.  Ultimately, the performance of any data centre is a reflection of the people behind it.

  The EPI Difference

In today’s data centre industry, there is no shortage of providers offering audit, certification, and training services. On the surface, many may appear similar.  But look a little closer, and the differences begin to matter.

A significant number of providers are also consultants, builders, system integrators, or equipment vendors. While capable in their own domains, their commercial interests can naturally influence recommendations. What begins as an audit or assessment may lead towards specific products, upgrades, or solutions. Similarly, as demand grows, more training providers are entering the market. Not all, however, have data centres as their core discipline or long-standing expertise in mission-critical environments.

This is where EPI is fundamentally different.

1. Objective and Vendor-Neutral

EPI operates independently of consultants, builders, and equipment manufacturers. Our guidance is defined solely by what is right for your organisation, not by any commercial product or service.  The result is clear, unbiased advice you can trust, and recommendations grounded entirely in objectivity, standards and best practice.

2. Deep Expertise, Not Generalisation

Data centres are not one of many services we offer, they are our sole focus.  For decades, we have dedicated ourselves exclusively to the data centre industry, building deep expertise across the full lifecycle of mission-critical facilities. We actively contribute to the development of international standards such as ANSI/TIA-942, ISO/IEC 22237, EN50600, BICSI-002, SS507, and DCOS, giving us direct insight into how these standards are shaped and applied in practice.  This ensures our customers receive guidance grounded in current, real-world best practices.

3. Integrated Understanding Across Disciplines

Operating a modern data centre requires more than technical knowledge in silos.  It demands a holistic understanding of how facilities, IT infrastructure, and operational processes working together. EPI brings this integrated perspective, helping organisations make informed decisions that strengthen performance across the entire environment enhancing performance, strengthen resilience and reduce operational risk.

4. Proven Experience Across the Globe

With decades of international experience, EPI has partnered with organisations of all sizes, across industries and regions worldwide.  We understand both global standards and local operating realities, allowing us to deliver practical, relevant outcomes wherever you are.

5. Experienced Practitioners

Our trainers and auditors bring real-world experience from hundreds of data centre audits and reviews worldwide. This means our recommendations and training are not theoretical. They are shaped by what works in live environments.

6. Globally Recognised Certification

EPI’s certifications are globally recognised.  This ensures consistency, impartiality, and credibility for both individuals and organisations.

7. Scale That Reflects Trust

EPI is the world’s largest provider of accredited data centre training and ANSI/TIA-942 and DCOS audit and certification services.  This scale is not just a statistic. It reflects the trust placed in us by the industry over many years.

8. Certified and Accredited to Deliver

As a registered Certification Body (CB) and Conformity Assessment Body (CAB), and the first TIA-accredited TIA-942 CAB, EPI operates under strict industry oversight and validation.  This provides our customers with the assurance that our services meet recognised international standards.

9. Global Reach, Local Understanding

With operations in over 60 countries and 130 cities, supported by a strong partner network, we combine global consistency with local delivery.  You benefit from both international expertise and on-the-ground support.
