It is a great milestone for EPI to have delivered its first ANSI/TIA-942 training in LATAM which took place in Mexico City from Sep 30 to Oct 2, 2015. With the completion of this training, the data centre industry in LATAM will now have local certified design consultants who can design and review data centres for conformity to the requirements of the ANSI/TIA-942 standard. This undoubtedly will lead to more data centres in LATAM adopting ANSI/TIA-942 as the standard of choice similar to other regions.
The CTDC (Certified TIA-942 Design Consultant) course and examination are accredited by EXIN which is a global accreditation body with a focus on the data centre and IT industry.
According to Joseba Calvo, Managing Partner, EPI-LATAM, “This is the first step to improve the knowledge and understanding of the ANSI/TIA 942 standard of the data centre design industry in LATAM. The CTDC training includes the latest version of the standard and helps the end-users and designers to understand the requirements of the standard and the appendix. Information on individuals who have been certified and data centres which have been assessed for conformity to the ANSI/TIA-942, can be found on the www.tia-942.org website which is a central repository for anybody with an interest in the standard.”
Edward van Leent, Chairman & CEO of the EPI Group of Companies, added, “More and more data centres worldwide are adopting the ANSI/TIA-942 standard as the benchmark. This is driven by many factors including that it is an industry standard issued by a non-profit organization and that it is publically available leading to full transparency which is fundamental for data centre operator/owners and their customers. Now data centres in the Latin America region will have direct access to local expertise to design and/or evaluate their data centre to meet the conformity to the ANSI/TIA-942 standard.”
