Latin America (22 Nov 2016) - The Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (TSTT) has received the world-class ANSI/TIA-942 data centre quality certification from EPI for three of its data centres. TSTT has the distinction of having the only Rated-3 ANSI/TIA-942 certified data centres in Trinidad and Tobago, the Caribbean and Latin America. This places TSTT among the top data centres in the world. The ANSI/TIA-942 Certificate of Conformance attests that TSTT's data centre has been independently assessed and found to conform to the requirements of ANSI/TIA-942 Rated-3 for the following scopes - 1. architectural, including site location and building structure; 2. mechanical, including cooling, safety, fire suppression and security; 3. electrical; and 4. telecommunications. TSTT’s customers can therefore be assured that TSTT's data centre has redundancy in its facilities and telecommunication infrastructure as well as having enhanced physical security features.
Joseba Calvo, Managing Partner of EPI LATAM (part of the EPI Group of Companies), congratulated TSTT on this impressive achievement and said, "The Rated-3 TIA-942 Certificate is a great accomplishment for TSTT especially because it was able to achieve this for three of its data centres in such a short period of time. TSTT also deserves credit because all the other local and regional data centres have not achieved this level of quality certification. Other data centre providers often market their redundancy and reliability levels based on self-declaration instead of independent validation and certification. The ANSI/TIA-942 certification for TSTT conveys credibility, trust, transparency and clarity to the customer."
Calvo added, “EPI is very honoured to have been selected by TSTT to audit their three data centres and train their staff on EPI’s world-class data centre certification courses. First of all, TSTT chose the ANSI/TIA-942 for its transparency and its superior quality and completeness, covering all aspects required in a data centre where as some guidelines only cover some specific parts of the data centre such as electrical and mechanical but do not assess other important elements such as telecommunication etc. Secondly, TSTT wanted an independent 3rd party auditor with a well-respected global reputation. EPI was selected for these criteria and more. EPI has the advantage of unrivalled experience, being a global organisation which has performed the most ANSI/TIA-942 audits worldwide. EPI is also a registered Certification Body, and its auditors are certified and follow the ISO standard and guidelines for performing audits giving the assurance that the audit was done properly and correctly.”
According to Rolph Young Senior Manager Enterprise Marketing at TSTT, "There is a growing demand for high-end data centre services both locally and internationally. It is part of TSTT's strategic plan to transform itself into an agile full service data centre and telecommunications provider of world standard that is responsive to its customers' needs. A simple 20-rack data centre can cost over $TTD 30 million to build not including the additional cost to have it audited and certified. We have invested these costs so that our customers can enjoy the use of a fully-certified, internationally-benchmarked, safe, secure and affordable data centre. Our customers will benefit from reduced business risks and lower business costs."
Young continued, "Having been in operations for over 25 years, TSTT is the most experienced telecommunications company and data service provider in Trinidad and Tobago. TSTT has 6 existing data rooms in addition to our public Rated-3 ANSI/TIA-942 data centre. This combination of TSTT's longstanding experience and our ANSI/TIA-942 certificate guarantees the highest level of service at global standards to our customers."
Young added, “We are also very pleased that EPI has awarded the globally recognised Certified TIA-942 Design Consultant (CTDC) and Internal Auditor (CTIA) professional certifications to TSTT's staff who have completed EPI’s training and passed the tough certification exams, proving their knowledge and expertise. This is another assurance to our customers that TSTT has the right caliber of managers and technical staff at its data centre. The services we provide will cover the full spectrum of the most advanced data centre products including storage, back-up, co-location, disaster recovery and business continuity, add-on services and virtual machines. Interested companies should contact their TSTT Account Manager for further information and to apply for TSTT's Data Centre services.”
