First European CTDC Class Fully Sold Out

SINGAPORE (18 June, 2014) – EPI ran its first CTDC (Certified TIA-942 Design Consultant) training in Europe in the Netherlands today to a full house! The class was hosted by Vijfhart, EPI’s training partner in The Netherlands. It was attended by an international group of data centre professionals from Denmark, Poland, Germany, Italy, Japan and The Netherlands.

Data centres are at the core of many organisations. Downtime of the data centre could lead to major losses to the business. As a result, many organisations establish resilience at various levels such as the data centre facilities infrastructure and at the ICT layer. However, following the recommendations from various vendors, consultants and public domain information such as the internet, might result in under- or over-speci¬fication. Therefore it would be better to follow a commonly accepted standard as the basis for the design and build principles.

According to Edward van Leent, Chairman and CEO of EPI, “The CTDC training and certification is based on the ANSI/TIA-942 Standard. The ANSI/TIA-942 Standard speci¬fies requirements and guidelines for the design and build of a data centre. It is intended for use by designers who need a comprehensive understanding of the data centre design. It encompasses Architecture, Mechanical, Electrical and Telecom requirements and guidelines, which are not always covered by other generic guidelines and so-called “standards”. Understanding the intent of the ANSI/TIA-942 Standard is of fundamental importance, not only for the successful implementation of the data centre, but also for its sustainable operations.”

“After completing the CTDC course, the participant would have gained the knowledge on how to design an ANSI/TIA-942 compliant data centre. A person who has passed the CTDC exam and acquired the CTDC qualification will have a clear understanding of the requirements of the ANSI/TIA-942 Standard and possible implementation variations,” Edward continued.

The knowledge covered in CTDC is well suited for all types of data centres, be it enterprise data centres or multi-tenant, third party data centres such as co-location, managed services and cloud service providers.

The next step for a CTDC is to attend the CTIA (Certified TIA-942 Internal Auditor) course and certification. And if the individual wishes to pursue his/her career in this field, the premier and final certification track is the CTEA (Certified TIA-942 External Auditor).

EPI is the only data centre training provider in the world using independent accreditation and examination for all its training programs. This applies for the CTDC, CTIA and CTEA. EPI’s courses and exams are accredited by EXIN,
