Singapore (1 June 2020) – EPI announced today the new CDFOS® (Certified Data Centre Facilities Operations Specialist) training and certification. The CDFOS® is a 3-days training that will enable operations staff to understand the day-to-day processes which should be in place, the critical elements of those processes and how to execute them.
Data centre facilities operations have proven to be the key differentiator between a data centre that is performing well or badly. The old believe that a fully redundant data centre facility will save the day is no longer true as many research outcomes have revealed that the majority of downtime is caused by the human factor.
The CDFOS® course is fully aligned with the DCOS® (Data Centre Operations Standard) which adds great value for data centres operators/owners. This ensures the CDFOS® curriculum encompasses all the data centre operational disciplines.
According to Edward van Leent, “We have 2 training courses and certifications covering the competences required for efficient and effective data centre operations. The CDFOS® is for the day-to-day operations staff and the CDFOM® is for data centre facilities operations managers, supervisors and team leaders.”
The CDFOS® is a certification-based training, as all EPI training. A professional who carries the CDFOS® title means that he/she has not only undergone the comprehensive training, he/she has also passed the impartially accredited examination. It is a double validation that the person has been trained and has acquired the required competences.
“The data centre industry has been facing skills shortage challenges since day one. COVID-19 has not hindered the strong demand for digital services but further accelerated it and intensified the skills shortage. I would strongly urge people who are looking for jobs to consider the data centre industry and take up the CDFOS® training and certification to give them an advantage and get noticed by recruiters,” van Leent added.
The CDFOS® is available in multiple delivery methods – ILT (Instructor Led Training), VILT (Virtual Instructor Led Training) and TOD (Training on Demand) – to suit whichever learning method preferred by the individuals.
